DBT Group
Yume wellness center offers DBT Psychoeducation skills training program. DBT was created by Dr. Linehan and this comprehensive program was originally created for people who were acutely suicidal but the DBT skills are very useful and more studies show that DBT can be helpful for any of us who wants to improve our quality of life by focusing on four aspects. (mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance. Our DBT skills training program is should not be a substitute for comprehensive DBT program if the symptoms you are experiencing require you to attend the traditional comprehensive DBT program. I will do a 5-10 min brief screening to make sure you and our program will be a good fit for you.
Yume's online DBT skills training group will meet weekly (75 min) to learn how to manage overwhelming emotions, move toward a balance of acceptance and change and this training will not be substitute for therapy. We will learn 1) mindfulness 2) Interpersonal effectiveness 3) Distress tolerance 4) Emotion Regulation
The purpose of this group is to learn new skills from DBT which is an evidence based modality but if you have severe mental health conditions, you are required to meet with your therapist as scheduled.
Moreover, facilitator of the group will incorporate process time so group members can gain support from one another.
